An Interactive Expert Resource: How Avoxa delivers pharmaceutical and medical expertise via AI chatbot

avoxa 300x150

Avoxa has teamed up with Retresco to develop an AI-powered specialist chatbot for Pharmazeutische Zeitung and PTA-Forum, making extensive editorially reviewed content accessible in a dialogue-based format.

The aim was to answer complex pharmaceutical and medical questions faster, more accurately and in a more context-sensitive manner than with traditional search engines.

The result is a RAG-based AI chatbot that reduces the amount of research required, intensifies usage and strengthens the position of specialist media as innovative sources of information.

Avoxa

The challenge

  • Large, high-quality knowledge archives that could only be used efficiently to a limited extent via traditional search methods
  • Complex, context-dependent technical questions that require multiple content sources
  • Balance between daily news and long-term technical knowledge
  • High demands on the accuracy, transparency and reliability of answers

The solution

  • Development of an RAG-based AI chatbot based on editorially reviewed content from PZ and PTA Forum
  • Use of semantic retrieval, vector search and context-sensitive reference logic
  • Natural language, multi-level dialogues with follow-up questions instead of one-shot answers
  • Seamless, design-compliant integration as a widget on overview and article pages, including mobile optimisation

The result

  • Significantly reduced research effort for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
  • High usage intensity with several hundred enquiries per day and an upward trend
  • Above-average click-through rates, engagement rates and dwell times
  • Strengthening of PZ and the PTA Forum as innovative, dialogue-oriented specialist media
Peter Gerich

‘Our innovative chatbot makes specialist content accessible in a completely new way. We have placed particular emphasis on seamless, design-compliant integration as a widget. The RAG chatbot enables natural language, multi-level interactions and significantly lowers the barrier to entry for users. This allows us to make targeted use of new technological possibilities.’
